Kindermusik

Your little one pushes for chances to explore alone then clings to your side. A music and movement class that involves parent and child together strikes the right chord! “Our Time” treasures the parent-child bond while seeking to engage the children directly in musical discovery. With your fabulously talented Kindermusik Educator leading the way, we will enjoy a carefully chosen balance of activities each week that will keep these little ones hopping!

Kindermusik and Brain Development
Your Kindermusik Educator is also your guide into how each activity contributes to your child’s development.  Kindermusik engages in ongoing research about music and brain development that keep us in the forefront of early childhood music education. (Insert link to research page here)

Kindermusik at Home
Every Kindermusik class includes materials that go home with you, to help you re-create that musically enriched environment through the week. “Our Time” classes include CDs, storybooks, percussion instruments and other supporting materials.  You will receive a new set every time we change to a new theme, three times a year.

2012-13 Enrolment details

Classes are 45 minutes, weekly.  They run September to June, and you can join any time.  You can change to a different time slot or age level when you need to, or discontinue your enrolment with four weeks notice.

We’ll enjoy 3 different themes over the year, each with a unique set of supporting materials to go home with you. And every month there will be something new coming up in terms of our musical concepts and focus.

For the 2012-2013 season the themes will be:

Creatures at the Ocean

Features: singing, vocal play, dancing, creative movement with props (hoops, scarves, balls), interactive stories, language development, fingerplays, exploring simple percussion instruments, Active Listening, information on music and brain development.

Short Spring Session (May 26 to June 29, 2012)

Zoo Train  (Our Time: 1½ to 3½  years old, with an adult)

Toddlers and trains make a natural match—always on the move. Tag along this summer with a traveling zoo train. Move like kangaroos, sing about seals and play percussion in the zoo jamboree. 45 minute class includes Zoo Train book, Home CD and animal shaker instrument

Winter 2012 Theme (January to May)

“Away We Go” is our transportation theme.  Join us for songs, stories and movement all about trains, boats, airplanes, buses, even a steamroller! Home instrument is a pair of harmonicas – one for the child and one for the parent.  How can you have train songs without a harmonica?!

Continue the musical learning and fun at home with two CD’s featuring 50 songs, sounds and recordings of favourite activities from class. Two interactive storybooks—“Shiny Dinah” and “ Giddy-Up” help to develop early literacy skills.  Plus a Home Activity Book full of additional activity suggestions; and parent and child harmonicas, all in a Shiny Dinah train box.
